Interested in contributing to exposure?

exposure is a peer-reviewed* journal of photographic education. exposure welcomes submissions from photographers, historians, critics, writers, professors, instructors, and students. Preference is given to SPE members but membership is not required for publication in exposure.

Deadlines:
Submissions are accepted year-round. The deadline for consideration for the Fall issue is the Friday following the national conference each year (end of March/beginning of April); for the Spring issue the deadline is the Friday following Labor Day (beginning of September).

Essays:
Please submit an abstract or outline of a proposed paper of no more than 2 typewritten, double-spaced pages. Include your name, institutional affiliation, if any, and contact information. If submitting an essay to be considered for Peer Review, please indicate that as well. If your essay is selected, you will be asked to submit the full-length manuscript at that time.

Images:
We accept submissions from image makers in any of the following formats/media:

Slides
Copy prints (Please do not submit original photographs. We cannot be responsible for them.)
CD or DVD (image files larger than 5MB each)
URL

Please do not submit image files larger than 1MB each via E-mail.

Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the return of materials. Otherwise, we will dispose of/recycle all materials received.

Submission Guidelines (PDF)

exposure is published twice yearly by the Society for Photographic Education. Domestic subscription rate is $35 annually, outside the U.S. $50 annually. The journal is available to individuals through an SPE membership, or by purchasing issues (see instructions above).
